Aaron R. Crane, MHA, FHFMA
Aaron Crane has years of healthcare financial leadership in the Pacific Northwest and was the National Chairperson of HFMA for 2022-2023. His specific areas of expertise and interest include interim executive leadership, strategic planning and execution and operational performance improvement. He has been active on the national scene and is a regular presenter at national and regional conferences, speaking on why and how healthcare needs to reinvent itself to better meet care inequities (Ignite the Spark!).
He previously held the position of Executive Vice President with the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance from 2018-2022. Prior to that he was CEO for the health management startup Population Health Alliance of Oregon and CFO at Salem Health in Salem, Oregon.
Crane has strategic and financial expertise that includes major capital financing of clinical expansions, joint ventures and restructuring, workforce engagement, revenue cycle, LEAN processes, and investment, debt and affiliation strategies.
A member of HFMA since 1989, Crane has served the national association as Secretary/Treasurer during the 2019-20 and 2020-2021 terms and Chair Elect in 2021-22. Additionally, Crane has served on the National Board of Directors as Regional Executive Chair and as a Chapter Advancement Team member. He has held various chapter leadership positions including President of the Oregon chapter. He has received HFMA’s Medal of Honor, Follmer Bronze, Reeves Silver and Muncie merit awards.
Crane also served on the board of Apprise Health Insights (an Oregon Hospital and Health Systems company) and currently serves on the board of Washington Hospital Services (a Washington State Hospital Association company).
He and his wife Judy, reside in Portland, OR. They enjoy hiking, snow skiing and scuba diving.
